How to Make a Decision
Let’s see…you can make a decision by asking the advice of people you respect or listing on a piece of paper the pros and cons of your choice or you can quiet your heart, go a peaceful place (like the one pictured above) and let the decision come to you. I have even heard of people imaging that they had made the decision and project their future happiness with the possible outcomes.
As Christians, we have another way of making decisions - by discerning God’s will in light of scripture. The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians Chapter verses 12 and 13:
12Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
When we when have discerned God’s will for our life, then we have discovered our “Call.” Once our “Call” has been affirmed by other Christians, we can then make decisions in line with what we have discerned to be God’s will. Thus we do not make decisions based only on the particular merits of that choice, but we see how that decision will affect our “Call.”
Obedience to God’s calling is the best way to find happiness, joy, blessings, and peace in your life.
Peace,
