Somtimes an “ending” is a new beginning.  However, when we cling too long to the past, then an “ending” can keep us from embracing the future that God has in store for us.

When my marriage was ending in the early winter of 2006 I found myself clinging to it and hoping my relationship could be resurrected and my old life could be restored.  Yet the more I tried to cling to the past, the more I found myself slowly dying.

There came a moment when I realized that by continually looking backward I was denying myself the future that God had planned for me.  It was only when I let go of the past, that I was able to embrace the future.

Now, beyond all reason, I find myself sitting on the rocks of Point Mugu and watch the warm sun sink into the blue Pacific.  I would not have made it here, or anywhere, if I had not trusted God enough to let go of the past and trust a calling into a future more marvelous then I could have ever imagined.

What is God calling you to let go of?

Peace,

Pastor John
