The Setting Sun (Anger)

I remember a date, over a year ago, where I was meeting this woman in San Francisco. For the first full hour of the date she talked exclusively about her ex-husband and her anger at him. I barely got through the first hour! Yet, I had hope as she seem to change subjects. We could get on with the date!
Then she went on to complain about the first guy who broke her heart after divorcing her husband! Finally, after two hours the date was over, I felt like sending her a bill for the therapy session. Obviously she was not ready to move onto a new relationship because she was not over the anger she felt from her old relationships. What guy wants to sit at a dinner table and listen to a woman drone on and on about how bad her ex-husband and ex-boyfriend were?
Now do not get me wrong, anger is a perfectly legitimate emotion to feel, but I consider it one of the “stuck” emotions. When you are angry, you are not open to the new life that God has prepared for you. It is vital that you deal with anger, but then it is just as vital that you “get over it” and move on with your life.
Or as Ephesians 4:26 declares-”Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry” Tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day, why don’t you let go of your anger tonight so you can enjoy it!
Peace,
