Tahiti Waves – Sunset at Point Mugu – Fear

Fear is a natural feeling for us to have when we are facing danger. Unfortunately, we sometimes cannot perceive the difference between our perception and reality. There are very real things to be afraid of this life, things like smoking, be over weight, not wearing your seat belt, high blood pressure, and drinking and/or talking on your cell phone while driving are good reasons to be afraid.
However being afraid of change, of someones disapproval of you, or conspiratorial emails (For example, conspiratorial emails are always running on Facebook – Some people just know how to push our buttons and we are so gullible when we are afraid.) are examples of irrational fear.
Our faith in Jesus helps us deal with our irrational fears by giving us faith about the future, knowing that we are loved by God, and trusting in the Holy Spirit to guide us along the right paths. Faith can even help us deal with the real fears by giving us the courage to tackle our problems and face facts (need to lose weight to lower that blood pressure!).
Just look at the beautiful sunset. You know there are people who are afraid to get out of the house and travel to see amazing events like at a sunset at Point Mugu. Jesus told the disciples in John 6 to “Fear Not!” Perhaps it is time we listen to Jesus a little more….
Peace,
